@sawaba Old scam where you send money to someone to double it. Except this time it's crypto.

@babyfangs @sawaba I'd amuse myself from time to time by kicking over 1 or 2 ISK to annoy them and partily to see if they'd actually play along and double it.

@Elirairah @sawaba The older versions of this type of scam used to be like. Some guy walks up to you and befriends you. Then they tell you a great business idea he knows of. If you sent him money his partners will double it. You give them 1000 and he gives you 2000. But humans being humans. The victim will go for more. Except the more part could be like 20k. That guy is gone soon afterwards. The newer version is the crypto one. Or the rich boyfriend one where they would prey on women on say tinder with this.

@babyfangs @sawaba Yes, I know how it works. Like I said I first encountered such scams in EVE Online. So it was very amusing for me to see people trying to pull the same thing IRL. As well as other pricing shinanagins you sometimes see on ebay.

@babyfangs @sawaba Lol sorry, I should've been more specific.Eve Online is an MMO where the in game economy is entirely player run. Items must be manufactured, bought and sold between players in the in game maket. Think of a libertarian/anarcho-capitalist paradise, McNukes and all, and you've got the right idea. The devs are also fairly hands free and give the green light to run in game scams, theft, fraud, espionage, corporate sabotage, and piracy. So long as it's "for a profit" and you don't violate the game's tos. Jita is one of the major in game trade hubs used by players and it's quite common to see scammers in the local system chat trying to fleece people of their hard earned ISK.

@babyfangs @sawaba I don't blame you. It's fairly niche for the reasons I mentioned above. I stopped playing two years ago after getting burnt out. Though I may pick it back up once sort some things out.
