Fascism is a manifestation of a failing capital state. People fall into their niches or groups at this sort of time. It occurs in a crisis. Rallying around tribe, “race” or other irrational formations or ideas is classic. The danger is that the problem isn’t properly understood, and the reaction of people (something they MUST do) is usually misdirected. This is why Italy failed, Germany failed, Apartheid Afrikaner and English in Africa, failed (Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia) etc. And now Ukraine will fail. The people end up harming themselves when they resort into that laager mentality around pseudoscientific or social-constructed ideas about what’s happening to them.In short, the answer isn’t race or ethnicity, blood, or anything like that. It’s class struggle. Trotsky’s essay on Fascism informs my understanding mostly, but I am open to reviewing others.
