Can anyone explain what would happen if my Mastodon instance/server died or the admin pulled the plug? Would I lose my account and have to start again?

@Dunningkruger @jameshodcroft Yes you would lose all.We do have backups on 2 locations, and 3 admins. Also we promised to abide the covenant (https://joinmastodon.org/covenant) but that's a promise, no guarantee.

@ruud @jameshodcroft Yes, like most new comers, I picked a server at random, but looks like I landed luckily on a well run one. I do have an issue with a Twitter/GETTR troll who has followed me here, but they are not posting anything reportable so not sure if there's anything you can suggest?

@Dunningkruger @jameshodcroft Yes if they don't do anything against the rules, you can still block them yourself so you don't see anything from them and vice versa.

@Dunningkruger @jameshodcroft Our server only knows the people on our server, and those followed by people on our server. It doesn't know any other accounts so cannot list them as followers of external accounts.
