So, I've gone and downloaded my twitter archive. I'll most likely not be using it as much. But it has got me thinking a little bit about a few things I wish Mastodon had.1. Discoverability. I find discoverability a bit hard. I would like to be able to search for art hashtags with certain filters. For instance, I want to see what is most popular within a certain time frame or something. Getting a simple chronological order of all hashtags means I have to sift through lots of mundane posts.

I'm not trying to be insulting here. Imagine trying to use ArtStation with only a chronological order of art submissions?I agree about the general idea of not trying to chase likes or boosts, or whatnot. But no discoverability as a feature, isn't a nice feature is all.

2. Notification Consolidation. Having individual likes or boosts listed one by one in the notification area maybe worked for a small platform. But with Mastodon becoming larger, having no consolidation is a nightmare if a post is getting any sort of attention.

There's a lot of stuff I prefer about Mastodon over other social medias. So I'm only mentioning this critique as a way of trying to build a useful set of tools that I think other platforms did do right, but keeping the open source, non-alorithm focus of Mastodon.

3. Some way to hide posts you've already seen or boosted. I've noticed I see a lot of the same posts after they get boosted by other people I follow. I wish there was a way to hide this if I've already seen it. But especially if I've already liked or boosted it myself. At least within a certain amount of time (30 days for example).
