OK I didn't want to post about this but I'm getting almost a post a day about this and I'll probably get more.Stop asking me to make a "BetterTweetDeck for Mastodon". I will probably never do that because:1. the Mastodon FE is a huge React app that I can't mod easily from the outside even if I wanted to2. I'm 100%, absolutely not doing any social-media-adjacent-side-projects until next year at least. I need a breather after 8 years of BetterTweetDeck and seeing Twitter massacred by a Redditor w/ too much money.3. If I ever do anything Mastodon-related it'll be a different web client entirely because there's a lot I disagree with when it comes to the Mastodon FE so modding it feels counterproductive.3bis. the Mastodon API has a bajillion features and pitfalls I dont know about so I can't just snap my fingers and do that anyway, shit takes time.I appreciate the sentiment but this is getting a bit much, I just want to chill, man.

@Eramdam relatedly:if something was as horribly wrong with Mastodon FE as it was with TweetDeck, users will fix it directly with PRs and not through an extension.BTD had some vanity stuff, but most use probably comes out of the things we built to match the rest of Twitter that they did not deliver on, Mastodon doesn't exactly have that problem.

@Eramdam of course we have Eugen doing weird decisions here and there, but that's not that much of a massive issue as Twitter just not housekeeping their own products.

@Eramdam I don't, but comparatively, Mastodon is open-source while Twitter is not.The possibility to make changes is still more than, idk..having to live with it. Putting management decisions of open source project aside for the moment.
