Welcome all new members of the fediverse, and of my feed.I have many interests and you will find me posting about electronics as I build recording equipment. I build lots of equipment that are clones of many classic recording devices. The idea being to build a world class studio without paying crazy vintage prices and such.I also post about current events, politics, wellness, food allergies (I am gluten free) and even occasionally weird sports like Snooker and Curling.#introduction

@Ricardus Do you post schematics? I think it would be fun to layout new copies of vintage gear.It would also be fun to actually correctly do things like THD analysis of amplifiers, stuff like that. Plus because it's audio, 100MSPS and 100MHz of bandwidth is way more than you need.

@havoc I don't NOT post schematics, but most of the stuff I've been building the schematics are out there and easy to find. Neve 1073's, API 312's, etc.Do you do PCB design? Because I still have no mastered that skillset, and have to rely upon fiends in the community.

@Ricardus Eh I've done it (multiple times), but also that I'm not an expert - especially if you get into low-noise systems.Doing it "correctly" (appropriate stackup design, SI/PD analysis, blah blah) is way harder. I've always just winged it. Size tracks per process to hit correct impedance, keep traces short, guard traces where needed. Usually "good enough".

@Ricardus It would be way more fun to like... setup an actual test for variations in layout, to detect how your layouts impacted performance, especially when it comes to low noise items. Watch out for return currents. Keep bypass caps close...lots of rules of thumb. I got away from PCB-related things. It went from being a job that bought you a house, to something we have a "contractor somewhere" to do in the last 20 years or so. Anyway, hit me up about it if you want maybe I can help.

@havoc Audio frequency stuff isn't as critical ad Mhz and Ghz stuff, so layout isn't *AS* critical. But good layout is always something that should be observed.I have to very kind friends in the DIY and Masto community who have made me boards when I asked, and they're awesome people, but I also don't want to wear out my welcome. But yeah, if I ever need anything I'll reach out. If you're interested in seeing any of the stuff I've been making I have a list if hashtags.

@havoc OK. You asked! 🙂 There are various levels of documentation to these hashtags. some are very detailed with dozens of posts, and some are completed projects aren't documented well, and others are new projects that aren't very far along but will be documented as I go along.

@Ricardus I opened all of them as a new tab - note, I don't think the servers appreciate that.Is there a way to add them all quickly which is better for the servers?

@havoc I don't think it matters as long as your browser can open all the tabs without bogging down.
