They’re building an extremist paramilitary organisation, willing and aiming to suppress political disagreement through force. This has some very, very bad potential.

@Gnomeshatecheese Yes, it’s really bad. I was only reacting to the bookstore name because I’m so used to “armed Antifa” in general. I don’t want to be used to it.Antifa seems to run portions of the country, most notably Portland, already. I don’t understand why Trump was considered weird/paranoid to consider this a problem. We used to have “normie” Democrats who would have thought so, too; I guess we don’t anymore.

@Cousin_Isobel I sure as hell don’t want to get used to it. It’s plenty bad enough when they brandish bike locks and home-made riot shields. Them kitting out in actual military gear with firearms is just horrifying. Which is, I’m sure, exactly what they want. They WANT to frighten people into not opposing them. Seems to me that the Democrats are turning a blind eye to Antifa because they think they can use these goons to their advantage. Well the “normie” Republicans thought that about the religious right and see where they ended up.

@HebrideanHecate I wonder if Texas Republicans feel like they’re in a quandary, because they are always talking about guns, and how our Second Amendment should have the broadest possible interpretation.I actually live on the east coast (not NYC), and the only Antifa I’ve been exposed to is sort of “clown Antifa” – loud, young, unarmed, and terribly disrespectful and misguided, but much less scary.
