Musk seems to think that he can solve the problems and conflicts of a forum that serves hundreds of millions of people from every corner of humanity by:- cutting staff down to a lean team of more "hardcore" engineers- firing everyone responsible for dealing with social, policy, and legal issues- chasing away recognized experts and celebrities who've been providing free content- making the place more welcoming to nazisSounds like a plan.

@mattblaze The culture here has been that CWs are a mechanism that grants power to your audience to choose whether or not they want interact with your content *before* they actually see it. This is a response to pretty much every other social site, which can bombard you with negative or otherwise off-putting information without warning. Some days people just don't want to see certain things but still want to enjoy the app.

@mattblaze - if Twitter built up so much technical debt, it may be that it can be rebuilt from scratch in 6 months by a smallish team with some reduced functionality using cloud services that were not available to Twitter’s original engineers. If Elon can do that, it could be profitable. Then he goes public again in 2 years. Doubles his money and puts $20 billion in SpaceX. Added benefit is that everyone thinks you are crazy. Seems possible and a reasonable roll of the dice.
