If anyone this winter tells me that electric is better than gas, I'm going to invite them over to clean my driveway with my electric snow blower because they deserve to be punished

@coldacid One of the disadvantages of 120 volts being the standard for outlets. Since manufacturers generally assume they’re going to be plugged into a 15-amp outlet, the max they usually pull is around 10 amps, though some might do up to around 12. 10 amps at 120 volts is 1200 watts, or about 1.6 horsepower, which is just too wimpy to replace most gas-powered appliances.

@dave and because of that, electric snowblowers are also much smaller than their gas counterparts, so even when the snow load is light enough for an electric blower, the job still takes a lot longer. It's actually faster for me to just shovel the whole driveway than use my snowblower, which obviates the whole purpose of having one.
