@stux See, that's why I spent the first year or so of working on PCs being afraid to pull too hard on something. My boss would show me how hard you had to yank on some of those old ide connectors to get them loose, but I was terrified of exactly this situation.

@stux There are metal tabs on the sides of both memory cards. When you remove those cards, you depressed one sitting on top of the other, and they both pop-up somewhat from a spring loaded chassis. Then you slide them out of the chassis (first the top, then the bottom). Might take a little tug. To replace them, you slide the bottom card into the bottom rung of the chassis, then you slide the top card in the upper rung of the chassis, and then you depress both to collapse the spring mechanism.

@stux - I don't know whether it's still a thing, but time was when IBM went on a big tear against "random access" and insisted that people use "direct access" instead, because when you retrieved some from memory, you didn't just pick something at random.
