       @8565357 One of the great mysteries of the modern internet.  You download a website (ie, by loading it in your browser) and included in the download is a message telling you to download the website, because the website you downloaded is old.I mean, the only explanation is that there's some component that is meant to reside in the browser's caches.  Surely it's part of the myriad mechanisms, infrastructures, frameworks and libraries all firing in tandem so that you can load a picture of a cat and a 8000 characters of "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER" within a mere 90 seconds of telling the browser to start up.

       @8565357 @Scott_MacBlegh we deploy serviceworkers in your browser to make the site more stable, load faster and seem more seemless when moving between pages. when i/we make changes to the source code we have to flush that service worker out of your browser or you get served stale (sometimes broken) assets. by presenting the user with an "update" button not only does that allow us to flush the stale assets from your device but it also gives you a fleeting dopamine burst that you will return to poast in search of your fix
