"The Skeptical Inquirer" Volume 21, No. 1 (February 1997) had a cover story about being mad that a fiction story was popular.I remember that issue from decades ago when people get mad today about books, art, music, statues and the like.This inability to understand the difference between representation and reality... this notion that there are magic words /sounds / images that if you encounter them will make specific actions happen every time... I'm not so sure I'm convinced.

@onan@dobbs town The most fictional thing about the X-Files is that I am reasonable certain Fox wouldn't willingly join an organization responsible for COINTELPRO and the assassinations of both MLK and Fred Hampton. He'd be more like that crank Max Fenig in the show who lived in an RV and trying to find his sister that way
