They're sheltered because they may not trust the badge.The remainder of users are hobbyists like myself, who like dabbling with databases, frontends and the like. They're sheltered because it's what they were taught academically.Personally, I don't care for the politics. There's so much more to talk about here, and I hope you enjoy your stay.

@masstransitkrow @clipperchip I am pretty much open to anything logical and if someone can explain in actual words vs cursing and or other things. If I don’t agree, I don’t agree. I don’t see a need to go ape crap over things. Not everyone agrees we are human. Lot of the anti police folks I’ve spoken to are all guilty of something too. 🤷🏼

@rhcp011235 @masstransitkrow I'm usually always open to a reasonable debate. But in my experience the people that are most interested in talking about this are either on the far-left ("defund the police") or on the far-right ("obey the law and you have nothing to fear"). Both are not sustainable positions in my opinion, and it is almost always hopeless trying to discuss the issue with these types. The people that are able to look at the issue from both sides are usually in agreement with me, so there's also no point in discussing it.

I find it easier to engage with people on their hobbies and passion projects instead of politics. Consider Fedi like Year-round Thanksgiving - don't discuss anything at the table that distracts from the food or what you're thankful for.

@masstransitkrow our politics semi align so its not terrible. im just more middle ground. Im not ultra one way or another despite what people think. I wouldn't vote all red just because. I think ANY extremism is bad
