       The most exciting thing to me at this moment isn't just people looking at the #fediverse, but the wider web right now -- blogs, smaller communities.I've always believed in "the web as the social network." And a protocol like #ActivityPub, the one underlying Mastodon and the rest of the fediverse, has the chance to make that happen.Unfortunately it's taken one popular network's collapse to get people looking outside of it again. But I think it's opening people up to a ton of new possibilities

       @write_as I'm not entirely convinced it's 'unfortunate'.

       Well said. There’s nothing unfortunate about an unfederated commercial entity, a pseudo-social network finally collapsing. It was fated.

       So that's kinda where I'm focusing Write.as and the @writefreely software that powers it. It's meant to help people create and socialize on the open web, instead of in the confines of a single platform -- or even a single network.

       Ideally, platforms like ours will interact through multiple protocols, letting people build whatever kind of network they want -- whether large like in the fediverse, or small, like among a group of newsletter subscribers.
