There is plenty of good news in the midterm results. The GOP did very well in California. The two largest blue states, New York and California, are both examples of what works and how to move forward, starting with outstanding candidates and working hard to encourage voters. In Orange County, Republicans voted for Republican Brian Dahle over Newsom by a margin that was 12 points higher than the 2020 Presidential vote

@BirdDog Good things happening in California for Republicans as well as in New York. That is a lesson for us in Massachusetts

@BirdDog You have Republicans in Congress. We don't have any. Although I know CA is a state where the worst excess of the Democrats make life miserable in many places. We are comparatively sedate in comparison - but only by comparison.

@BirdDog Understood. LA is deep blue, like NYC. I am thinking of the contributions of the CA GOP, and NY as well, to the country. Watching the final state races, many of them slow-walked of course by the Dems when they can, it was clear that the work done by the GOP in both states was making the difference. If the Dems had kept the House we would be in a grim situation. That didn't happen. Massachusetts contributed nothing at all - as usual

@timr We’ve talked a lot about quality of a candidate. I think that’s important to ponder. But I think a bigger issue is that we don’t reach voters the way we should. We should focus on both… it’s a winning strategy as you point out because, again as you pointed out, it worked in NY and CA. Some of the bluest areas.

@umad80 The quality of candidates is indeed vitally important. Some of the candidates who lost this year were poor candidates. Some of them were just wrong for the state. The mainstream GOP candidates outperformed the Trumper populists on average. That is a message we need to hear.Yes, NY, CA, FL, TX, IA, OH and NC are all success stories with strong candidates and turnout, as well as VA in 2021. They can provide a guide and template for going forward

@timr @umad80 @BirdDog @Klang As a Californian who grew up in Orange County it gives me a ray of light that our state is not a lost cause. I am still unable to make any headway in my local republican party or committee. So many voters are just fed up and have no direction to go. The hippies have managed to convince the populace that pot is the answer to all your woes. As shown throughout the country the metropolitan areas are difficult to understand. "Money for nothing..."
