       I see a lot of people who were using Mastodon avidly before the start of Eternal September really upset about the flood of folks who aren’t using the conventions and tools already established. It’s got to be rough! Twitter was once like that, but it was rolling waves. I’m not sure there’s a great chance new arrivals will really adopt existing mores, but federation means a lot of older instances may block a lot of people and newer ones.

       @glennf I have very mixed feelings about it. Mastodon was a little village where everyone knew everyone else. Now we're being invaded by a bunch of city folks. It's different but it's sure a lot more active. And maybe a bit more fun, too.

       @leo I missed Twitter when it was little, too. I think Mastodon is poised to resist Twitter’s worst outcomes but at a loss of that!

       @leo @glennf totally understandable. Im try to treat being on Mastodon like being a #nomad. Try to learn the culture, understand that things work the way they do for a reason and try to understand that reason. Then maybe bring my own ideas. 😁
