Under this logic, all those saints who initially lived a gravely sinful life should've just been thrown in Hell instead of being given the second chance that ultimately got them in Heaven.Also, you operate under the assumption that all sodomites have already raped somebody. Do you not wonder just how many sodomites and pedophiles would not embrace their respective perversions if society hadn’t been pushing for the acceptance of such perversions? My issue is not that it's not preferable to attempt to rehabilitate them (before they offend, at least). It's with the efficacy of those attempts. You seem inclined to think rehabilitation is likely. I don't think there's any evidence to suggest that it'll work in all but the rarest of cases.As for your point about the idea that they were indoctrinated. That's probably true. But I don't really care, tbh. Every criminal has a sob story. I don't think a murderer growing up poor excuses them committing murder. In the same way, I don't think whatever happened to a sodomite to make them that way excuses the vile things they do.
