Note: I’m talking about design, not decoration. What’s the difference? Have a watch: https://vimeo.com/281704944#design #decoration #BigTech #SmallTech #BigWeb #SmallWeb

Beyond “if you are not paying, you are the product” , @aral shows that we need to stand for: “we are not users, we are people”

@jcolomb @aral I don't know. A bit cheesy to me.Of course, we're #humans and #people but in the context of interacting with software, we are #users as well because we do use the thing we're talking about (in the context of #UX/#UI/#HCI/#programming/...).The assumption that "everybody who's using the word #user is not thinking of its users as humans" (as it suggests here) is a bit too much for my personal taste. YMMV. 🤷

@publicvoit @jcolomb @aral Sure, until you actually start writing software and realize how true the sentiment actually is. It's incredibly easy to get lost in the technology and lose sight of the simple fact that it's in fact people that will end up using your software. The term "users" has the unfortunate side effect of dehumanizing people it applies to. I've personally seen countless examples of my colleagues reducing people to user statistics.
