Persoanlly I am so against the world cup in #Qatar. It was always quite obvious that the #FIFA is actually just a 'legal mafia' but this time they went too far. It's a big fck you against human rights. Influencers are getting paid to promote Qatar and trying to muzzle away the many deaths from the builds of the statiums.I don't support country or club who's participating in this shameless bullshit, sorry.

@stux Well, as someone who have lived more of my life in Qatar, I can 100% confirm the poor working conditions immigrant workers 'specially those who come from south Asia, countries like 🇵🇰, 🇮🇳, 🇳🇵'; however, if we have a look on countries which hosted the WC before 🇶🇦 , you won't find them any better, they are even worst.

@stux #FIFA isn't just a legal mafia here, they're actively pro-slavery by handing the #WorldCup to Qatar. Just a few bribes is all it took for FIFA to throw a middle finger to human rights.

@stux I would agree that the World Cup should not be in Qatar but not for the reasons you alude to. If you are objecting on human rights then there are very few places in the world it could be held, certainly not the uk, the USA, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, France, Russia or China. many objections to Qatar are rooted in racism.

@stux I agree on most points. Fully agree that it should NOT be in Qatar! However, I do plan to watch. I very much enjoy how the #WorldCup unites people. I'm hard-pressed to think of anything that does a better job of creating a shared interest. across languages, countries, and artificial "tribes".I was originally going to be silent with my semi-dissenting opinion. BUT...thought I'd try honesty and discover what kind of response I get in this new community that I've joined!

@stux The Guardian estimates that Qatar spent $200 million in the bid to get the World Cup. Australia, by comparison, spent $42.7 million on its bid; the US spent less than $5 million. England $24 million. How do they spend this money? Well they must convice the leadership of six regional confederations into which the world is divided: Africa, Asia, Europe, North & Central America, Oceania and South America.FIFA will need new rules after this World Cup to avoid this to happend again.

@stux yes but now #FIFA is helpless and humiliated. Clearly Qatar had all these "last minute" additions‐the mandatory Spyware, restrictions on women's dress, banning alcohol sales 48 hours before the tournament starts- planned from the outset. Budweiser may sue: they should. I don't think anyone doubts that right now FIFA is crawling and begging (and having to offer some bribes of their own) to keep Qatar from banning all women from attending or arresting the female refs if they wear shorts.
