@robert @matt haha nothing "alt right" or anything like that, just more from a curious perspective. I am trying to find out about the missile strike in Poland for example, I dont want tankies as such but I also dont want a fun respectful but balanced time on it. So far I am adoring it here :)

@matt @norskimposter The "federated" discovery may or may not be exposed to things there; it depends a bit on what and where users are following. I don't think there are server wide filters preventing it from showing either. But generally (across a lot of Mastodon instances) cross instance searching is very limited. :/

@norskimposter what @robert said answers your question, I think.Youâre basically only able to see content that oslo.town âknowsâ about. And how does it know? Someone has to follow that content already, or maybe even follow someone that boosted that content. If you search for #SpecificHashtags and thereâs nothing there, it could just mean oslo.town hasnât discovered that content yet. Being on a bigger server helps a little with this, but then the Local timeline is less relevant.

@robert @norskimposter I had someone toot me the other day saying that I was the only person tooting about the #MiamiDolphins On my search, I could see about 5 people tooting about the Dolphins. But on their server, I was the only one. This is why itâs fun to visit other serverâs explore pages and get a peek inside their world, then follow some people you think might be interesting. It broadens the scope of what everyone on oslo.town will see.

@norskimposter @robert Thereâs a feature that admins can set up which is called Relays. Itâs basically a group of servers that all have agreed to share all their public content with each other. It would help with the problem youâre facing. Only, relays are very unreliable right now. Oslo.town was connected to four relays which gave us a lot of content. But three have since died â ď¸ and so we lost a lot of connections. Iâm on the hunt for more reliable relay groups to join though. đ

@robert @norskimposter Unfortunately not. Youâd need to visit them in a web browser (which you could still do on your phone, I guess). I curate a long list of other servers here: https://coxy.co/mastodon/Click on one and youâll see the Explore page straight away if theyâre using the newest version of Mastodon. When you see a fun tooter, you can copy the link to their profile and paste it into the Search box in the Mastodon app and follow from there. Easy, huh? đ¤ No. đ

@norskimposter @matt It is. I wanted to create my own instance, and there were only a few clicks needed for a transfer to happen. People following my old account were suggested to follow the new account (and several automatically did so without intervention). However, history is not transferred.

@norskimposter @robert Options for moving are at the bottom of this page: https://oslo.town/auth/editYou can move your account, which moves your followers too (but not the posts). Or you can redirect your account, which moves nothing and just redirects people to the new account.
