@kaia I think it mostly has to do with it having to run on Quest with multiple characters. And satisfying a hierarchy of managers who try to stomp out every last bit of creativity and expression.

@kaia My guess would be that they have market research which suggests that graphics which are too stylised or too realistic are considered nerdy by older people. The lameness reeks of focus groups.

@kaia That is what you get when you spend 3.67B$/Q using the best and safest frameworks and design decisions.... but more seriously, I believe it looks like that because they were trying to create a virtual space a billion people could use on minimal hardware. Resource optimized, instead of appeal optimized.Apparently it is easier to create a box that can hold millions of people, than to create a box people want to inhabit xD
