I think it's about time that we all collectively put our money where are mouths are. If we want to break the chains away from these megacorps and platforms, creators, developers, free software orgs/advocates and viewers should be taking a #fediverse first strategy. #fedifirstThis will in no way hurt the lion's share of viewership from #youtube, but it will gradually educate more people that there are alternatives. As viewers, we can engage here as well, share great content and tell others about it:)

@lps@video.1146.nohost.me Engagement is huge. Creators put a TON of work into their creative efforts, and there's nothing worse than spending 10+ hours making a video, only to have 3 views and no comments. The more people engage here, the more it drives creators. Good job, keep it up!

@tilvids@tilvids.com thanks for what you're doing, it's greatly appreciated:) On the bright side, I have seen viewing numbers definitely go up since the influx of Twitter users moving to the #fediverse and being introduced to #activitypub . I'd have to say at the beginning I was unsure how I felt that #Tilvids was not federating with other instances and then, after some time, and my own instance that also does not federate. I came to realize #peertube doesn't need to federate, as long as users can subscribe to all instances to populate their "home timelines" that's all that matters. And it gives a much "cleaner" user experience than some of the distasteful content that is out there. Which is the strongest argument against #peertube :(

@lps@video.1146.nohost.me Yeah for sure, thank you all for being great members of the community and supporting everything!I definitely didn't make the decision to not federate lightly, but it was the best solution I could come up with to work around the problems emerging from a completely open ecosystem. I'm actually incredibly excited to get past this initial growth stage of #tilvids ...not that I'm not enjoying it, because I love building things, but I have a vision of where I want things to go, and that very much includes starting to help creators branch out to their own instances where they own/control their own means of hosting their content, and even start helping others to grow as well, and we all work together to lift each other up.
