@zackdavisson mastodon.social is the "flagship instance" run by the creator of Mastodon. mstdn.social is independently run by @stux and just has a similar name

@calculsoberic @stux Yeah, that is what I don't enjoy about Mastodon. I don't want to sign up for many instances. I want simplicity of experience, not complexity.

@zackdavisson Mastodon is distributed that way. Instances talk to each other. It doesnt really matter where you register. It's just like EMail. Doesn't matter if you're on gmail.com, outlook.com, mailbox.org - you talk to the other ones just fine.
