In Japan, placards reading "FUCK the TERF" were held up at the trans parade. Many people protested the word FUCK.tras defends the parade on the grounds that FUCK is a common word in English-speaking countries.Japanese tra's are starting to use the hashtag. #fucktheterf.I would ask English speakers. Is FUCK not a problematic word? Also, is the use of the definite article in this sentence appropriate?šŸ¤”

@Ume Common AND offensive. We don’t say this word around kids, we don’t like kids to use it.

@RockTheBoat Thank you very much.I knew it.They defend "FUCK" by saying it can mean something other than "die" or "rape".I don't understand English very well, but I understand that their argument is ludicrous.

@Ume The definite article is a bit off, it makes the whole thing sound a bit silly, unless it’s directed at a single person. Having it on a placard meant to be a generic statement makes it sound like there’s ONE Terf of all Terfs they object to. Or that ā€œterfā€ is some kind of collective, like the Borg. ā€œFuckā€ can be anything from highly offensive to essentially an interjection, depeding on who uses it and when. At it mildest ā€œfuck that personā€ can mean ā€œpay no attention toā€, at its harshest it can be even a call for physical violence (cf. ā€œfuck someone upā€), with ā€œkick them out of hereā€ somewhere in the middle. Bottom line, in this kind of context it’s definitely an aggressive word, but the level of aggression is unclear.

A professor at one of Japan's best universities claims that "fuck the terf" is the same as "fuck the patriarchy.šŸ¤”

@Ume She’s being either dishonest or ignorant, then. Sad to see Japan’s universities falling for this nonsense too.

@Ume Well that's a lie. Terfs are women who have been erroneously labeled in this way, to enable violent men to target us.Also the word "fuck" in English, has multiple meanings. It could mean take down or dismantle, as in "fuck the patriarchy". But it can also mean to have sex (but very aggressive sex), so "fuck the terf" sounds like they are saying they want to violate women sexually for having the correct opinion that men are male. It's trying to frighten women in the anglosphere into keeping quiet, because we would like to not get raped.Any teacher who says that isn't the case, has her head buried in the sand. She is not paying attention, or she is lying because she understands how dangerous it is to tell the truth now.

@Kay @Ume In the 70s it was considered common knowledge that FUCK is an acronym from the 1500s meaning "Fornication Under Consent of the King" It makes a lot of sense today since TRAs all think they are little kings who can control everything about female sexuality.

@Gnomeshatecheese Unfortunately, Japanese universities and publishers also make this claim.😢 Even though the UK has started to change direction...

@Ume @Gnomeshatecheese So sorry to hear this is happening in Japan! I had heard things were going badly in this directly a few years ago already. I lived there 1989-96 and there were some popular drag shows but no one was calling themselves any sort of trans in my circles in Osaka at that time.

@Ume @Gnomeshatecheese If asked, we told our students NOT to use swear words like 'fuck' or 'shit' at all until thoroughly understanding how they are used in context, just like I wouldn't go around saying 'koro tsudzo" to just anyone anytime! Could be dangerous to one's health. Most women don't swear in mixed company in English or only mildly. For these trannies to go around saying 'fucktheterf' is no different from the English speaking trannies going around saying 'kill the terf'. However, they don't seem to understand that the world is a terf! They can't fuck the whole world and they can't fuck their mothers and all the other women who know how evolutionary biology works! We have to oppose this however we can without putting our lives in danger from this idiotic men (and even some crossdressing women).I'm curious to know what the attitude of the average Japanese person WAS before all this publicity of trans. What did people think about crossdressing back in the day? Was it only gay men or were there straight crossdressers too (AGPs)? About when was it that trannies started to dominate all conversations and started forcing the governments and other agencies to bow down to their nonsensical belief system? What do most people think now? What are radical feminists thinking about it now? When I lived there, I wasn't deeply into feminism as I am know and had no idea that there was such a problem with this previously almost harmless perverts! When I lived there, the main publicized problem with men was chikan on trains! Oh how we despised them. I knew at least two women who left Japan because they were being constantly followed and attacked by chikan!

@Gnomeshatecheese Thank you very much for your very detailed explanation. It is very funny that Japanese TRAs insist that 'fuck' does not only mean 'rape' and laugh at the English language skills of TERFs, but do not take issue with the definite article...

@Ume No problem, I have some background in this sort of thing.I agree that that’s funny. Rather makes them sound like playground children.
