1. This teenager is my hero.Today my granddaughter got accepted into a college. It’s the first of several she’s applied to.When she was 11 her mother (my daughter) died of an overdose. She went to live with her dad and his girlfriend full time.Girlfriend was not so nice to her and would a tell her that her mother was a bad person. Disgusting. But this kid would get angry but knew she had to let it roll off her back.

2. Between her dad and the girlfriend there are 6 kids. The social security monthly death benefit my granddaughter receives has sure come in handy to them...Dad is a functioning alcoholic during the day. At night there have been times when he’s gotten so out of control the kids and girlfriend have had to leave the house. Once my granddaughter had to climb out of her bedroom window because he wouldn’t let her leave.

@Silver That’s really so sad how ppl not only destroy their own lives but hurt (emotionally, sometimes physically) those who they should love and protect the most. Only by the grace of God have I managed to overcome such obstacles in life. The older I get the closer my walk w/Jesus has become. I started out rebellious, drinking and parting when I was young but slowly learned where that road would lead in my late 30’s. I’m 57 now & can’t imagine a day w/out Christ in my life! He changed my life
