       After being on #Mastodon for a few weeks, and still learning the ins & outs of the #fediverse, I gotta say - I'm loving it!        I think the #fediverse has great potential, but there's still work to be done to make it easier to jump in. The biggest hurdle I see is in making hosting simpler for the average user. I would love to see a #fediverse-centric hosting platform that could offer a choose-your-flavors type of plan. For example, let's say I want my own instances of Mastodon, Funkwhale, and Friendica, but I don't care about having my own Pixelfed, and I know I'm only going to have under 50 users on each.        Well this terrific imaginary company would then give you a plan that gives you just that. You define what you want the instances to be named, click deploy, and you're off & running, with admin accounts & access settings standardized across all your deployments. And, dedicated pooled storage to keep hosting simple & private.(thread)

       Part of running an instance includes defederating the bad guys. So, I also think there's potential to make it easier to manage these settings, by allowing an instance to copy the fed/defed settings from another instance.I would be happy to have my instance keep in sync with whatever Popular Instance X is blocking, as long as I could change & customize that as needed.(thread)
