Many people ask, "Can you sell free software?" The answer is "Yes, the GPL allows everyone to do this. The right to sell copies is part of the definition of free software." Read the full answer at https://u.fsf.org/3kq #GNUGPLFAQ

@fsf Couched in this is the question "can you make money selling or licensing Free Software?" And the answer is still yes. But it can be a little harder, and you might need to use a somewhat different approach than you would for proprietary software if you really want to see success. And then there's a whole conversation to be had about what that approach should be.

@fsf If it is up to the #CyberResilienceAct by the European Commission, there could be a lot of compliance work to make that a reality for #OpenSource software deemed "critical". https://tooting.ch/@maarten/109341108718598147

@fsf Yes; but what people really mean when they say "can I sell this?" is "can I have a monopoly on selling this?"
