@Lumeinshin I entered the 8th gen on PS4, following a long stint with my X360. I wanted to believe Sony had learned from their previous mistakes (some but not all) and supported their efforts using BSD software in a way that benefited my experience. Turns out my previous acknowledgement of the 'real engineers' having already left struck home as MS turned their XB1 around to the point where it was a better value proposition. The PS4 stayed as it was IMO.The PS5 was designed by idiots with 90+°C RAM and using liquid metal to cover for their cooling flaws. Aside from hardware costs (which are coming down again), parents buy their kids PlayStations because they have better control over it compared to PCs. When it breaks, they can ask Sony to fix it rather than returning it to a retailer and losing more than they would in Sony's ecosystem. I think the convenience is what keeps Sony afloat, especially for those already locked in.@MischievousTomato @matrix

@iska @matrix @LukeAlmighty i'm not just talking about the controller, i'm talking about the fact that you're going to need a beefy phone that will cost at least twice the price of a switch to play AAA games with poor performance. not to mention the battery drain.plenty of games still don't boot, or have heavy graphic glitches, and shader compilation stutters are still an issue even on PC.plus i would not want to play on a portable switch with a gamecube controller, let alone a smaller phone screen.it's not as simple as "phones can emulate switch." that's a completely uninformed idea. there exists an emulator, but in no way is it what i would consider playable and probably won't be for the foreseeable future until some better hardware comes out, and even then it won't be nearly as accessible, and you'll still have the battery drain problem.

I felt the graphics are nice, the audio is crisp and nice. I only played around 5ish hours. It was just really an ok game.

He told me I should go and play the new one, so He gave me his copy and I felt really bored playing that game. @CentaurBreeder @matrix @KonataWagner RaC2 blows any ps2 era games out of the water.The movement is way more fluid, like not even using speedrun moves, there's a diagonal sideflip that's just a move you can do, makes movement very satisfying.There's way more content and well designed levels.But I would still have eaten up ToD if they didn't completely change everyone's personality and the tone of the worldbuilding. It went from silly but the joke is always "late stage capitalism, flagrant incompetence and selling WMD to children" to some generic universe savior bullshit and throw in some robot pirates because we're soooooo random

@iska @matrix @LukeAlmighty a battery only lasting 3 hours is fine if it's a gaming device, but not when it's your phone and you need it to do other stuff.the hardware of a lot of phones are better, but you need far more powerful hardware than what you're emulating does to actually emulate it.phones don't usually have great cooling either, so if you're pushing it to the max for a long time it'll likely start throttling.i don't wanna' play portable gamecube controller either lol, fuck that. smash ultimate was just a random example, controller be damned. i know you could just as easily get one of those controller attachment things for you phone as you could joycons.the other thing you might be forgetting is that the switch came out in 2017. phones are just now available that can emulate it to an "okay" degree. most people who wanted a switch already have one, and most of the switch-exclusive games that have come out most people with a switch have already played (if they wanted to). the ps5 has been out for 2 years, has 5 exclusive games on it, and you can't buy it unless you pick it up from someone selling it higher than retail value. it's not really worth buying, whereas a switch technically still is (the only REAL competitor being the steam deck, but then you still have to fuck around with linux and emulation issues).
