       @thor fifteen years ago a friend was still using one and I thought they were dinosaurs then ... admittedly I only got broadband 20 years ago ...

       @muaddib1971 mid 00s, yeah, you had a fair bit of people on dialup still at that point. the Internet wasn't really an integrated part of everyone's lifestyles at that point yet. some of us nerds were just early adopters of broadband and lived in the future.

       @muaddib1971 i've noticed that when you work in the tech industry, you're often a bit more ahead of the game than you think. the non-techies haven't quite caught on yet.

       @muaddib1971 i've also had the following experience more than once:1. new tech is introduced.2. it doesn't catch on.3. me: so, it failed.4. ages later, it's suddenly popular.5. me: wait, we tried to tell you about this 10 years ago...
