I love it, but 99% of people who already don't know how to cut/prepare a pomegranate are likely going to suffer an embarrassing defeat if they try this method. We need a mastodon method that doesn't make me go :blobthonkang:

@stux I had a high school teacher once who demonstrated the "correct" way to consume a pomegranate.He began by rolling it around on his podium with his hands, pressing into it, destroying the insides, eventually declaring it "ready" and stabbing it with a sharp 2B pencil and then sucking the juice out of it.I later learned he performed this stunt every school year for each new batch of students as if it was a spontaneous act

@stux I tried that last night with poor success. The top came off relatively cleanly but the segments were not easily separable and I ended up picking most of the arils off by hand as usual. Perhaps this particular fruit was ill-suited though.TBH the most reliable technique I've found is to score and crack it open in a bowl of water, which prevents pom juice spraying everywhere. The arils sink while the white stuff floats so they're relatively easy to separate.
