@safi3 Wasn't actually free. I did a job for a friend for old time sake. And the guy is too poor to pay me, so I asked for his steam library.inb4 cdpr locks sharing the gameI've watched a recent review and by my estimate the game is probably worth $30 in current state but I have really no interest in the game because I don't like playing games as much anymore.The Edgerunners just got me thinking about looking into the game but not enough to buy it for any amount of money. I'd probably watch a let's play of it.

@splitshockvirus @slash @safi3 Life finds a way. Yeah it’s worth a play. Bandwidth is decent here in the US and storage is cheap. The piracy debate is a personal preference but I recommend gog version if you go that route, especially on Linux. The game has its merits if you can ignore some of the woke trash dialogue.

@dj @slash @splitshockvirus For me I am too poor to play it as those RTX graphics cost like 100 thousand Pakistanis Rupees minimum.. Fucked up 3rd world country on the verge of collapse but never collapses.. so yeah.... The current gen consoles are equally expensive.. The only affordable way to play it are those video game streaming services but then why waste the money on entertainment which can be used for much more important things like having enough cash in hand in the time of emergency... so yeah.. If he has the hardware and has gotten it for free then I don't think there is any problem if he tries it but then it is hard to commit to a game this big.

@safi3 @slash @splitshockvirus I understand, gaming has been turned into an expensive habit. I can remember consoles being much more affordable 15-20 years ago and jail breaking them easier. In South America they could be purchased chipped right out in the open and many people took advantage of that. Pc gaming also had a golden age where older hardware was capable of playing newer games for much longer. No way I pay msrp for modern gpu just to play a few gaymes. I got mouths to feed. Right now the best console to mod is the switch. You can buy chip on AliExpress. I learned how to solder for Xbox 360 but you can always find someone who can do it for you.

@safi3 @dj @splitshockvirus so far as I can tell you’re missing nothing from the consoles in terms of exclusives. as for Cyberpunk, it’s a solid open world game, but each of the individual things that it does well, I can think of a better game that’s usually a decade old and does each thing better. I ended up finally playing the game because I wanted a stealth-friendly game that I hadn’t played before. It has good stealth but Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dishonored both have better level design. I don’t know exactly what your computer’s specs are, but the odds are very good I could point you toward a game that would run whatever genre you’re interested in playing. It may not have the raw graphical power of Cyberpunk 2077, but a lot of the most visually interesting games I’ve played are much lower budget and run much better.Also, there’s always the actual tabletop RPG. I think 2077 is more based on Cyberpunk RED than Cyberpunk 2020.

@dj @slash @splitshockvirus AAA publishers have their attention on making their games more and more cinematic, higher and higher hardware requirements and micro transactions and full of DRMs rather than being affordable and able to run on moderate hardware.. Cyberpunk 2077 publisher CD Project Red who also owns GOG are one of the better ones that at least they do not put DRMs in their games.. The other AAA publishers are way worse.. indie games is where the real innovation is.

@safi3 @dj @splitshockvirus@mstdn.starnix.networ Most of the games I end up loving now are indie games that I dig through steam to find. Sometimes they have almost no reviews yet. It’s so hard to break through that attention barrier in the market when your game releases that I frequently find better games than AAA just because I’m willing to scroll through a few pages and find the ones I like the descriptions for. The developers sometimes keep them up to date even if the games have almost no reviews and have been out for years. I wish I had the time to do the same thing on itch.io because I know there’s a lot of games that are golden there too.
