I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a little mini breakdown the first time an engineer on my team quits some day. Eight years managing so far without an engineer quitting on me, kinda proud of that tbh

@cwayne I had an engineer quit within a few weeks of when I took over the team. It stung pretty hard because we'd been peers who got along great before that. Not as bad as when I had to fire someone I'd been a peer with for behavioral issues, but yeah it sucked.

@ssweeny if it was that soon then I wouldn't feel like it was on me TBH. Though in some ways I kinda wish I did have one that early cause then I wouldn't be worried about it 😃

@cwayne it is a bit like the first ding on a new car. It sucks but there is that relief from the background anxiety.
