The main reason I'm doing this, beyond a really funny suggestion by @dustin sparking my imagination, is that in a time of major shifts in the size and norms of the fediverse, doubling down on weird and not taking ourselves too seriously is the best thing we can do.Fuck corporatization, fuck mainstream social networks, fuck capitalism, and fuck brands. Fuck influencers and advertising and analytics. Fuck turning all of your hobbies and passions into secondary outlets when you just wanted to enjoy something. Fuck real estate development. Fuck billionaires and fuck people trying to pass laws trying to take away your rights. Fuck all of it.Let's just have fun instead. @sean Question. What if Wendy’s came on down and made an account and knew that it was all satire and played along well enough that people actually liked it. Then what?Technically by mimicking real brands in satire those accounts are actually earning them free media. One might be able to argue that brands.town is basically our own weird flavor on corpo social media. If other real brands start to on-board. I agree that would be hilarious, but at what point is it just weird advertising?

@twizzay I think there'd be a point where the drop in satirical quality would be obvious. But yeah, the day that I start seeing the place crawling with real brands registered to real corporate email addresses, is the day that I either find a way to disable federation and/or burn the thing down completely.

@sean As long as we use real fire. :afire: FYI most brands follow an 80/20 rule. (Or atleast try to.) 80% entertainment 20% branding/advertising. So it might not be a significant drop at first.
