       AI art is quickly surpassing the average human artist by a fair margin. It's not just how good it looks right now but how good it looks compared to a week a go. It's seriously moving at a lighting pace.I remember when AI art was pretty smudges or effects laid on top of a pre-drawn image, now it has clear structures and even themes. Clear environments are emerging.

       @Bunny @Waldbrand Kind of. The AI looks at millions of images and learns the patterns, then recreates the patterns. So it’s similar to how a human artist learns from other artists. It’s not just copying existing art, it’s more nuanced than that.

       @Bunny @Waldbrand You’re right in the sense that the AI cannot generate anything on its own, it requires a human to create the prompt. So the human is guiding the AI, and the human is also selecting the best generated image. So the creativity is coming from the human. In that sense you can say that AI is just a tool that makes it faster and easier for artists to express their creativity.

       @Mystiker @Waldbrand Exactly. This is the case for AI basically everywhere. It's a tool not a thing of it's own. The Terminator movies and their consequences have been a disaster for the discussion around AI.

       @Bunny @Waldbrand I think there is a lot of genuine danger around AI, especially with government surveillance and censorship. But instead everybody is freaking out because “OMG think of the poor woke calarts artists who are losing their job!!!!!!” which is a silly thing to worry about.
