"""I empathise with those mourning their experience on Twitter — now over. Another group are also mourning a social media loss — the people active on Mastodon prior to November 2022. The nightclub has a new owner, and people are pouring in to the quiet houseparty around the corner, demanding that the music be turned up, yelling over the top of the quiet conversation. All of us lost something this week. It's ok to mourn it."""https://www.hughrundle.net/home-invasion/

@EdS I view the platform itself as enforcing flexibility. Some are going to hate that, run off to a Mastodon hugbox based on censorship, and then wonder why they are out of touch with so much of the world.Pleroma nerds are going to keep talking about the hardcore reality and exploring new stuff. Eventually this model will win out as it always does.

@EdSI like the analogy, it really fits. I don't see noisy neighbours crashing in as a threat – this is federated, route around it. I do see a threat when instance administrators adopt twitter-like behavior to pander to the whims of this new influx. Expect many "old" accounts to be blocked just because someone somewhere read something that they deemed offensive, and rather that ignoring it ir blocking the sender, they're reporting left and right. Oh joy.

@EdS Thanks for the heads up, keep reminding us to chill a little and to respect the space.
