This is after an entire nation was forced to give up its right to free speech, and I don’t know how many children were mutilated and sterilized, in order to prevent even the remotest chance of suicide among the mentally ill.

@Cousin_Isobel From Canada's website:"Eligibility for persons suffering from mental illnessCanadians whose only medical condition is a mental illness, and who otherwise meet all eligibility criteria, will not be eligible for MAID until March 17, 2023. This includes conditions that are primarily within the domain of psychiatry, such as depression and personality disorders. It does not include neurocognitive and neurodevelopmental disorders, or other conditions that may affect cognitive abilities.This temporary exclusion will provide the Government of Canada with more time to study how MAID on the basis of a mental illness can safely be provided and to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect those persons. To support this work, the law requires the Ministers of Justice and Health to initiate an expert review, which will be tasked with considering protocols, guidance and safeguards for MAID for persons suffering from mental illness, and to make recommendations within the next year (by March 17, 2022)."

@MardiShakti Here I was thinking, all this time, that one of the main reasons to treat depression at all was to prevent suicide.I make no judgements on individuals who commit suicide (unless they are leaving behind kids), but getting the government involved and allowing professionals to assist is an absolutely horrible idea. It sends depressed people the message that we don’t want them, and creates a system that is extremely open to abuse.

@MardiShakti @Cousin_Isobel Why the fuck do mentally ill people need assisted suicide? If they're able bodied, can't they... well, I guess it's to give them a place to do it so whoever finds them won't be surprised. And also to make sure it works fully rather than leave them disabled or vegetables.This seems really wrong to me. It seems like something that is being promoted in order to bring down medical costs for the country.

@Blackgendermoderate @MardiShakti @Cousin_Isobel Because it's profitable, that's why.Also I agree with regards to bringing down some medical costs, like paying for therapy but it's also probably a nice boom for whatever drug company will manufacture the legal thing. A way to boost profits in the short term. Who knows? Maybe there is a secret list out there with regards to what pills were ok to promote and what pills to stop covering? I mean, there's child castration going on but I guess in a few years after fail surgeries and crumbling bones and maybe some PTSD from all the "sex work" to save up money for the surgery stuff that isn't covered who'll have someone begging for death.Of course there's also the fact that maybe I'm discounting the sheer amount of elderly people in Canada. Do they have somewhere warm to retire like Florida? Do they just move to Florida?

@Sherri_Ingrey @Cousin_Isobel Having deliberately [almost] od'd myself once and experiencing long periods of suicidality, I still would have liked some HELP, not encouraging me to go ahead with it. I was so delusional, I thought I'd actually received permission from my sister to go ahead with my plan (and she still kinda hates me for how the whole ordeal was imposed on her and she became my keeper). I can't even imagine what I would have done had this form of MAID been available when I was experiencing severe death wishes.

You don't need to organ harvest, you can pill profit harvest and surgerize and release from the human imposed suffering.
