I'm a bit lost for the right words.I've got a friend going for minor surgery on Tuesday. Too late for a card. Thought I would, at least, send an SMS. What to say, though? "Best whishes" sounds too wishy-washy. "Good luck" kinda implies something could go wrong. :ablobgrimace: What would you say?

No, whishes really is a word.

@fitheach depends on the kind of friendship. To a close friend I would make a joke to keep spirits up; to a more distant friend I would say "best wishes".What matters is that you care and are letting them know you do

@cyberspice I need to get the timing right. Would "thinking of you" be right if I send it the day before? Sending it as they are wheeling her towards theatre might not be ideal. 😃

@margaritatee I like the second part. However, "hope all goes well" has the same problem as "good luck", it implies the opposite could happen, too.

@fitheach "hope your recovery is as fast as possible" "let me know if you'll need any help after?"

@TeresaAAzevedo Did I mention she is a potential love interest? So, "best wishes" is too weak. Making a joke might be good.

@Tattooed_mummy Definitely going to use something like the second part. Now trying to think of an appropriate joke for the first part.

@fitheach As others have said something along the lines of best wishes, let me know if there is anything I can do. Possibly add in I'll buy you a pint /coffee in the" insert the name of appropriate pub or cafe".Also an in person visit in the hospital if that is possible might be appropriate
