One positive aspect to Twitter's potential collapse is the widespread rejection of "hustle culture."The blue-check ratrace, grasping for followers, gaming the algorithm — all of that can be replaced with something slower, more authentic, and ultimately more meaningful. It will be interesting to see who makes the transition and who decides to remain in that old dynamic.

@davetroy I'm watching to see who's who in that. So far three categories I've identified. A: those actively smearing mastodon while having a monetary interest (like locked but paid subscription Twitter accounts or gofundmes for "twitter work" they're claiming to do) B: the it's a new thing so it sucks crowd C: the mastodon is pretty awesome crowd. There's more I missed I'm sure but in broadest terms these are the primary groups I'm observing

@antonioserrata @davetroy the whole #fediverse thing has captured my imagination the way the internet did for me back in 1997. Wide open and lots of smart, kind people trying to make the world better
