@stux as an American, I hope that if I ever do have a heart attack or any major medical issue that it happens in a foreign country. I had to have an ambulance ride from my dr office to the ER. Dr office is next to hospital. Less than 1 mile total drive. $1409.

@stux Yeah I don't blame anyone for going to another country for medical treatment...as expensive as travel is, medical costs are 900x worse in the US. We have the most expensive healthcare system and yet some of us still somehow think universal medicine would be worse...???? :blobcatnotlikethis:

@stux And they will now have a cardiologist for life. Then maybe an endocrinologist and maybe a primary. Not only is this crazy, nothing is integrated or designed to solve the source of the problem(s). My state refuses to recognize integrative medicine, so insurance won't pay for any of it. All out of pocket. If they can get you on pills and bouncing between doctors, you are worth a fortune. Keep you alive but never get you healthy.

@stux I boycott two major things these days due to philosophical reasons: Housing and Healthcare.Our rents have risen to a point where I just won't accept it, so I live in a car at camps.Our healthcare industry (recall, we have no system) is so expensive that I won't accept it, so I do outdoor activities often enough to compensate as much as possible.My country sucks. That's all.

@stux luckily, I'm on Medicaid, which is single-payer for the poor and disabled (I'm autistic). The only problem is, I can't have more than $2000 in my bank account. That being said, I love the care I get with Medicaid.
