🤔 More questions that I don't know the answer to:Is it possible to drive social change through Mastodon? Could "Black Lives Matter" have happened on Mastodon? Or do the "intentionally slow, pleasant conversation" features eliminate the possibility of this? Do the "interest silo" tendencies discourage cross pollination?Or can we have our cake and eat it too? Will the addition of more journalists, more Black and brown folk, and higher total user count, cross some network effects threshold?

@mekkaokereke I believe it’s possible. The bird site didn’t create BLM. It was the folks on the street who took their passion and fight to the site. If more and more voices arrive here on #Mastodon this place could absolutely be a platform of social change. But it will also require changes in the culture here. If The Fed servers that are pro social change are all linked up and all the folks migrating here engage like on the bird site? Amazing things can happen. I believe.
