       Trump is desperate to run out the clock on the Jan 6 Committee so that he can run in 2024 without having appeared before the committee. He’s just filed a lawsuit objecting to the committee’s subpoenaing him to appear.        @Penelope It is mostly a delay tactic. If Republicans end up with control of the House, the committee will be disbanded and the issue will become moot. IMO, courts should decline to involve themselves in this matter altogether, as I believe that they would be intruding on Congressional prerogatives and therefore violating separation of powers. 1/2

       On the merits, I believe the complaint should be rejected. With so many Trump-appointed judges on bench, however, it is entirely possible that the issue would be decided in Trump’s favor. 2/2

       @heidilifeldman  heidi being Australian with no knowledge of the intricacies of the legal system there in the US  it strikes me that law in USA is not independent nor is it just , There seems to be huge emphasis on the INTERVENTION of politicians ? How can this be called justice?

       @Penelope @heidilifeldman the charge that ours is a two-tiered system of justice in neither new nor wrong. We imprison for profit. That alone sinks any illusion... for me, anyway.
