@boilingsteam I do try to mix recent games with older titles but I'm also super invested in indie games so there's that ;)!

@steallar indie games can also be counted as "recent" or "less recent" titles :)

@boilingsteam That's fair enough! I'm not quite sure why exactly however but I do seem and like to put them in their separate category whenever I can!

@boilingsteam More and more I find myself replaying games from 2005-2012 era. So many newer games are crammed with DRM; sliced up with DLC and still cost me $80-100 CAD. There are some newer games I enjoy but they're usually visual novels; walking sims or JRPGs. Newer shooters and first/third person games are not interesting me much sadly.

@boilingsteam what do you mean by "recent"? 6 month, 2years, 4 years?

@sebplane I guess recent would be what was released less than a year ago.

@boilingsteam Lots of early access in more or less continuous release... I'll take that as "recent"

@boilingsteam hard to tell because definition of "recent" varies per person - to me Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is still "recent" (this happens to all EGS exclusive titles really) meanwhile some games that are still being updated today like No Man's Sky and Euro Truck Simulator 2 or Binding of Isaac Rebirth - are those considered "recent" or not? There are unambiguously older titles that I play like Duke Nukum and Duke Nukem II and Commander Keen, but really those I play for sake of completion, while i still play Doom, Duke3D and Blood every once in a while. There are times when I play mostly older stuff, there are times when there's a new game comes out that I like and play mostly it. As such I don't really divide games to older or newer for sake of saying "i only play older/newer titles", so I can't even claim that i play "a good mix", especially since I have no idea what "good" would be. I am however going to say that finding a good new game is somewhat hard, but really it applies to any year, older titles only have advantage of people already knowing what's good, when stuff just comes out it's often hard to tell what is good and what isn't.image.png

@hj @boilingsteam I've heard people referring to Binding of Isaac as "old" and even "retro".

@hj @boilingsteam it's kinda like how "boomer" now means anyone above 25, but with video games.

@Polychrome @boilingsteam yeah it came from a meme "30yo boomer" which is mocking the (older) millennials
