After successfully (I hope) moving to my own instance, here's another quick #Introduction:I'm Daniel, a computer scientist, cheminformatician, and bioinformatician currently working at #EPFL in Switzerland. While I focus on #MachineLearning for drug discovery and development, I also dabble in #Sociology of #Science, #Astronomy, and #DataVisualisation. I also really like #SciComm.And I really like #punk rock, #hockey, #astrophotography, and #cats.

@Bluewall Did for a while as well, but I want to make sure not to suddenly lose my data when the instance may vanish. Although I have to make sure to back up and pay the bills myself now ;-)

@skepteis I'm curious: do you run and operate it yourself (onpremise hardware or cloud incl. install, update etc)? or did you move to a paid hosted offering? (.e.g mostohost et al)

@gmuecke I just run it on digitalocean. They even have a droplet that supports one click install (https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/mastodon). So it's on cloud with some admin work.
