Current read of Twitter:Let's go over the stuff I've already noted>40 billion for twitter is overpriced>Buying Twitter isn't a viable business decision>There is value in having access to world leaders accounts and journosTo get money outta this you need to cut some corners here. Firing staff and monetizing twitter is a small step forward but there's a problem:1- the reason why Twitter had this much staff is that there was some micromanagement they were doing over topics and accounts. With this staff gone some of the political leanings of the twitter trending has disappeared.2- the 8 dollars for all blue check has devalued the check. The established accounts come off as less important now because of how it was rolled out.3- there doesn't really seem to be a plan after this. I haven't seen "what's next" for twitter other than vine possibly coming back. All this is making me feel that musk is purposefully causing a "Tumblr situation". Killing porn on tumblr was an obvious mistake because that was the value of the site. For twitter? It's the topic control. I've seen more posts screenshotted of SJW nonsense than actually fun posts. Despite how people feel about it they gravitate to this nonsense even though it's obviously astroturfed. So this will cause the same effect that trump's ban did, You want more engagement on the site. So when the topic psyop control gets killed and the cringe celebrity blue checks get devalued there is no value for twitter. They need a plan to get people invested in twitter again. The options:1- unban trump, this can bring back engagement on Twitter2- rush vine rerelease, doing it now will cause a nice boost while the Musk admin is still fresh.

TLDR:I'm worried that they may be purposefully killing twitter like they did with Tumblr. Twitter doesn't seem to be making decisions that will make the site used more.

@zemichi for me the strangest decision is not trying to keep the blue check a badge for special people (retards, politicians, and celebrities). All that this needed was different colors, just like was recently temporarily rolled out and then killed with the grey check. It's such an obvious route with such obvious benefits, it's hard to believe that any of the complaints about it, like it creating a caste system (that _already_ exists), have been thoroughly considered and found to be too much for this route to be taken. Maybe there are legal barriers.

@apropos >Maybe there are legal barriers.I've heard there's a potential legal issue with how having to pay 8 dollars is exposing people to impersonation. Don't know how that works though.I think they don't have different blue checks because they don't exist. The only other blue check type I've seen is "translator" so they do have other checks but I don't think they have them yet.
