Since I am not in any of those groups it is my job to listen, learn, and change as well as consider how I use content warnings so I do not cause more harm. I use akkoma and misskeypersonally, akko is a fork of pleroma too. calckey is a good fork of misskey with a lot of features, but it's slow, akkoma is more what I assume you're used to, it's stock pleroma with mods like animated text and junk.

@patricia@pleroma.patricia.no I misspoke, I meant moderationif you wanted to get away from toxicity, if you run into the wrong crowd it's possibly worse than most social media since there's zero moderation, and the way it works there can't be. I would try and follow the #fediblock hashtag, be mindful as some people will try to ban innocent people or instances. you can try blocklists, but a lot of blocklist makers will block a lot of innocent people for things that they didn't do. if you want to find a list, make sure it has little "____instance adjacent", or has a lot of instances without a proper block reason, a lot of these are bad lists. it's also possible to set your instance to allow only, which is the opposite, where you list out the instances you manually vouch for and choose to federate with.

This is actually just a post subject in the ActivityPub spec and they default mastodon behavior is to collapse them and write content warning on the post. Like, someone could in good faith make their own AP server following the spec and not implement "content warnings" like mastodon but will see all these people stirring up drama over what should be the subject line of your totally-not-an-email post and be confused about it.My PleromaFE settings expand these by default. I tried to figure out if akkoma would work, but one of the features I had high hopes for was Pleromas Chats and someone told be they had been removed in the fork. I find DMs here very confusing and easy to do wrong and accidentally share something with someone you don't want to share with. So I wanted to check out Chats. Which seem great and I hope other implementations also start using.

@jessica @patricia @summerbear Is now a good time to mention that mastodon caused a lot of headaches for the community that was here before it and also didn't respect the community that was here prior to it? Even imposing the idea of content warnings onto us. Content warnings has never been my community and I will not use them. It also caused some instances to go down due to some bug in the earlier days. That was fun.

@sim They know this place had existed for years. They know it's different from Twitter. They know because the articles that spurred their ideas of coming here were, until last month, mostly a few years old before algorithms replaced them with newer articles at the top of searches.They left Twitter because they couldn't dictate how it was run. They're here to try to dictate it here and it'll go about as well for them as it went for Wil Wheaton. I guess we'll see.@summerbear @jessica @patricia
