A pretty inconvenient truth. @skepteis very true. Here in poor countries the access to a plane ticket is very limited and visas are a huge trouble, more in countries under sanctions like mine. The saddest thing is that frequently we don't have the equipment to do science and we have no option to travel or send our samples with someone that will do it.

@rafael_rdguez Indeed. While similar issues can even be seen in different countries and institutions within Europe, the challenges faced by LMICs are unquestionably immense. Although even with the illegal embargo, it is impressive what you achieve (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanam/article/PIIS2667-193X(22)00183-1/fulltext).

@skepteis yes, that's a consequence of the isolation too. We needed to develop our own pharmaceutics industry. But even with that work our vaccines haven't been certified yet by the WHO due that our equipment isn't as modern as it requieres.

@rafael_rdguez Oh, I didn't read about that. But coming back to the original topic, I think we may come up with a collaboration on computational chemistry or chelminformatics that won't require us to fly 🙂
