@stephenfry It seems you don't have the URL/link in the right area :ablobwink: Under profile settings you can past the URL from your website or socials and on their paste your Mastodon link so it's on both sides ✅

@stephenfry From what I see, you moved your website out of the "profile metadata" area and into the general text of the bio. Verification only works on the former!

@Gargron How am I to verify myself with a YouTube-Channel? Not possible. But YT is where I'm known from. Everyone can claim to be me.Besides, personal verification will be an issue on every platform, until it is solved.

@manniac I’m confused about why you think verifying through YouTube is more real than verifying through a domain and website which is bought by you, registered to your name, address, and purchased with your credit/debit card, and possibly even linked to from your YouTube channel?

@manniac I understand where you’re coming from, but I think that’s also what needs to change about the web. As a content creator yourself, you probably understand that the real value in your audience is when they are subscribed to platforms that YOU control, not ones that Google could delete on a whim?I would personally take 1000 email newsletter subscribers over 1000 Twitter followers any day. If you’re a public figure, it’s in your best interest to have your own website. 🥹
