I just published a new song... that I wrote in 1995 😂 Ever since then I've tried various ways to give it that louder, more produced "full band treatment." @killyourfm Nice song but I don't think the double tracked vocals are necessary. It might sound better with just the main vocal track and maybe some occasional harmonies on a couple of lines during the chorus.

@killyourfm that's a great song! I think just the acoustic guitar paid off, as it sounds very full anyway, so it doesn't really sound like anything's missing at all. Double vocals sound amazing too, great voice!What process did you use for acoustic guitars? I think I can hear at least two layers for "fullness", but they're also recorded very well. I usually record with a mic and a pickup at the same time, and then blend them together, so I'm curious how others approach this instead

@killyourfm Not bad at all but not my cup of tea.I'm curious though, you being a writer, how would you say the difference between writing articles and writing songs is? Maybe you should take the jump and start writing more songs since it is something that it's so dear to you!

@FunctionKey The MASSIVE difference for me between writing words and writing songs is seeing the finish line. When I write an article of any kind, I always have the outline in my head. I know how to start and finish it. My songs ALWAYS have a clear starting point, but finishing them is just really difficult. And when I do finish, and it's time to record, I'm never happy with my production quality or mixing. SOMEDAY I'd love to just have a producer and a recording engineer to help.

@killyourfm A couple originals, I mostly just write chord progressions and basic melodies, I'm trying to force myself to learn to do percussion, keys, etc in addition to just strumming on the guitar :)

@killyourfm This brings back fond memories of early '90s Seattle grunge unplugged. I kinda like the double tracked vocals. But it does make it sound more "polished" and "produced" than simply having a single instance. Cool stuff!

@lminiero GREAT question, and thanks also for the positive feedback. I did one guitar session recording with my Blue Yeti, and another using my MXL BCD-1. To get that nice full, wide sound you're describing, I added Stereo Delays to both tracks, BUT with slightly different delay settings. So one has a 20ms delay, and the other has a 7ms delay. I didn't set out to do that; it was more of a happy accident after tweaking and twiddling with various EQs and settings.
