       People talk about the important cultural differences between birdsite and here, asking people to use Alt text and CWs and such.But i think the most important part is something else:Here you have more room, so please take the time to write out what you think with more words! Either that is to explain what's in your head a bit more clearly, to avoid talking past each other (what we in Norway would call "skinn(u)enighet" – agreeing or disagreeing only on the surface, because you haven't understood the argument clearly, and you can't tell the other about it, because you think you actually did understand clearly), or simply just to be a bit more friendly in your replies (like starting with "I understand where you're coming from, but", or using other pleasantries). Small gestures like that can mean the world when it comes to fighting hatred and polarization, and even loneliness and bad mental health! I know at least for me the lack of courtesy, "everything always straight to the point" mentality of that other place has not been good for me, or for my conversations. Here we have the opportunity to do better, so let's! And let's talk more about that. That's (also) a cultural norm we truly need to cultivate, IMHO.
