You know, I think people's experience of the Fediverse (Mastodon) all depends on what client they use. Personally, I would advise using the Web front end for a week or so just to get a feel for it because it's not a single-column activity like Twitter.

@dick_turpin I'm glad there is a multicolumn view, like tweetdeck. Its the first thing I looked for after I created an account.

@Astroyka Yeah. There is whaleshare which is multi-column, but Tusky (The mobile app) is single-column, and I know all the cool kids only use mobiles these days, which is why I think some are struggling.

@dick_turpin by default it is single column, you have to activate the "advanced view" to get multiple columns

@dick_turpin It sort of resembles Tweetdeck, which used to be the best client for multiple social media until Twitter bought them. Now just does Tweeter, but multiple customizable columns.

@darckcrystale I know. But the advice still stands.

@dick_turpin A major downside of the advanced web interface for me is that the left sidebar / "new toot" field doesn't appear to be collapsible, which leaves less space for the other columns. I'm using Sengi for home/local/list tls because of this.

@Floyd Yeah, I now realise I should have included that analogy in my original Toot. 🤦‍♂️

@PinkUWAmena Hmm? Given the columns are side-by-side, I'm not sure "Collapsable" would give you any additional screen real estate, would it?

@dick_turpin yes, it is jusk incorrect to state this is the web experience without explaining how to setup it 🙂

@dick_turpin couldn't use anything else once you hit advanced view ;)
